Ever watched the original Predator movie of 1987? Well, one scene is unforgettable. Swozi and his teams of elite commandos in helicopters infiltrating to a drop point deep in a South American forest where a drug lab operates. This is the manliest movie ever. Testosterone filled scenes from start to finish. That particular scene as the troops are ferried into the forest in helicopter has a soundtrack - a famous one. Long Talk Sally by Little Richard.

A more famous line in the scene.

"Bunch of slack-jawed faggots around here. This stuff will make you a good damned sexual tyrannosaurus, just like me."

This film made me start pumping iron as a kipii(Ok, mawe not iron).

Anyway the artist in the soundtrack is Little Richard, one of the first Rock and Roll artist. Before akina Elvis Presley, Jimmy Hendrix, James Brown, Fats Domino, Ray Charles, Everly Brothers etc etc, there was Little Richard.

Born Richard Wayne Penniman in 1932, he is cited as one of the first crossover black artists, reaching audiences of all races. His music and concerts broke the color line, drawing blacks and whites together despite attempts to sustain segregation as seen in the music video below.

His contemporaries, including Elvis Presly, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Everly Brothers and Gene Vincent, all recorded covers of his works. Taken by his music and style, and personally covering four of Penniman's songs on his own two breakthrough albums in 1956, Presley told Penniman in 1969 that his music was an inspiration to him and that he was "the greatest". His career spanned 7 decades. He was 87 when he passed on yesterday.

On a side note, I put his Long Talk Sally hit as my ringtone during our 'come we stay' phase. Karibu nichujwe. RIP Richard
