I'm here reading world news.
32% of Russia is fully vaccinated against Covid, but they have record number of deaths. Over 1000 daily. In fact restrictions in Russia have been reitroduced.
66% of UK is fully vaccinated but the cases are about 40,000 daily.

Here in Kenya I doubt we've even vaccinated over 1% of the population. Even if the cases of deaths and infection are underreported, they cannot be that high to remain hidden.

So what's special with us Sub Saharans?

2 main reasons that have stood so far, one is that Africans have been ravaged for years with diseases to the point our bodies developed natural immunity to covid.
another likely reason is that more than 60% of sub saharan Africans live in rural areas where the disease was almost non existent in some areas simply because there were no enough carriers to spread it around.

Most african countries affected had a sizeable urban population living in congested areas.
 
You don't get infected if you don't come into contact with the virus. Travel inter-connectivity on the continent, both long-range and short-range, is more limited than often thought, hence the delayed transfer from one region to another. Localities/villages that have been exposed to the virus have sad stories to tell.
Finally, I refuse to let people who dropped biology in form two steer the vaccine debate. Please resist the temptation henceforth.

I put it down to a youthful population as I predicted 2 years ago at the beginning of the pandemic. Covid does not ravage younger people as much as it does older people. Equally, unlike the developed world, lifestyle diseases are not so common especially beyond the major cities.
