On Thursday, my friend and his family escaped death by a whisker after their house was sprayed with more 50 bullets. It's by grace that they all survived yet bullets had hit amost everywhere, including cooking jikos and kettles

On Friday night, they attacked a neighboring farm in the same manner, and two men died. One week ago, they had attacked a GSU camp. Few guys were arrested on Tuesday, and consequently, about 7 traders who had gone for an open air market in Baringo were abducted. Their fate unknown.
I can't document everything here but the results...

Some would say it's the pastures. Others would say it's cattle rustling. But it's deeper than that. Next to a farm like this is vast land full of grass but they'd rather choose to graze in your farm

Mans ata gover inakaa helpless. Lakni at least waliokoa huyo jamaa wangu. Ka sio hii kuwa stationed nearby, they could possibly be dead. They had now began the process of breaking the door

Huku ni kunoma....land is very cheap but huwezi enjoy..... very productive especially areas with water. Unfortunately, we just look at the outer problem and when skirmishes reduces...we are back to normalcy. We need to look at deeper issues of land in those areas.
Our pastoralists communities also needs to be sensitised that the practice is not sustainable in the current time.

The pic is a download from the net. crime was in Mirango, somewhere in between. Seems unajua izo maeneo, na watu hawaelewi how vast this place is. Ka ni polisi, maybe wamwage more than 3000 of them to guard day and night. Because a police station can not be a solution.

Cattle rustling has been there from kitambo till those people didn't consider it an issue. Now, this is like forceful displacement. Huyo mse wangu had no cattle they could steal

I have noted a flurry of activity involving sale of land in that area, I have a farm in Ndurumo, that's why I know the area.
 
These reports always escalate as we approach an election. Its never a coincidence. Its almost certain that politicians are involved and the police tactfully neutered so that the terror can continue unabated.

Only the rustlers and politicians stand to win from all the killings and displacement.

Cry thy beloved country.
