KUCCPS - Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, is the service that replaces the Joint Admission Board (JAB) students into the universities of their choices.
In order to be a JAB student, one has to have scored a mean grade of C+ and above after sitting their KCSE exams.
Being a KUCCPS student, one is eligible to receive a government scholarship and a low-interest loan from the Higher Education Learning Board(HELB). This loan is expected to be paid once a learner completes their four years of university or college studies.
In order to qualify for KUCCPS placement, one has to attain a mean grade of C+ for degree courses, Diploma C- , Craft Certificate D- and Artisan Certificate E.
KUCCPS application process is in four stages;
1. School application - Students are expected to apply while in school months before sitting for their KCSE exams with the help of their teacher through the career guidance programme. By this time, students know what they want to pursue. This is done by filling a form that will be updated by the directed of studies online.
2. Revision of course - KUCCPS announces the date in which students revise the universities and the courses they chose after sitting for their KCSE. This include the correct spelling of their names and confirm personal information.
3. Second revision stage - Students who don't qualify for courses and universities of their choices are given a chance to revise and change information and choose courses that were not filled.
4. Final stage - In this stage, applicants who fail to qualify for their choices stage 2 and 3 courses, but meet cut off points for placement, are offered courses that were unfilled.
