Only loss making parastatals should be sold first. I don't see the logic of selling off something that makes profits. Am sure some guys are waiting to make a killing in these ventures. You do a valuation of say AFC or Kenya Seeds, or KEFRI, during the valuation you skip a large track of land say for example the one in mtwapa. The corporation is sold and the buyer doesn't know that somethings were left out, then ikifika ni kufanya transfer, some company stakes a claim for the land, and seeing as the new buyer isn't not even aware that it exists, the dubious company walks away with 100acres of prime land in mtwapa. Land officers in the deal walk away with say two acres each or a fat wallet.
 
Kenya is an agricultural country and selling Kenya Seed Company whose scientists breed new varieties of seeds to suit the variety of agricultural zones in the country and multiply the seeds to make them available to farmers throughout the country is a big mistake. Availing seeds to farmers is a national patriotic duty that should not be left to the private sector. Scientists spend alot of time breeding and testing new varieties and only a few of the new seed varieties make it to the market. If Kenya Seed is privatized such scientists could be fired "to cut costs" and the company embarks to import seeds which could be unsuitable for our climates.

Selling a company only means change of ownership, it does not mean that the company stops doing its work or the scientists stop working. Kenyans should stop being sentimental about businesses, infact looking at the world over, the most profitable businesses are private owned

OK. Selling your house and ancestral land doesn't mean they stop being "productive". You should stop being sentimental about them. Also your kids will praise you for getting rid of unprofitable assets.

Exactly, there are places that never grow because people are afraid of letting go of their land. A good example is ruaka, if people did not agree to sell that land, it would not have grown to what it is now
