Technically there is no difference really, apart from having an icon and appearing on installed apps list, it's just a browser packaged as an app. But from and end user perspective there is some advantage is saying "Download our app on the play store",

The only permissions we use are internet permissions, no access to contacts, messages or that kind of stuff

Just last weekend we had a horrible incident borne of meddling with 'referrals' and rewards. It is silly to introduce features to the user experience and then get annoyed if discussions arise on possible shortcomings of those new features.

Nobody is squabbling with you. I have simply shared my experience with an app that was supposed to replace a web interface. Have a fine Friday too.
