A Rwandan man who left his house to go fishing in total defiance of lockdown orders issued by the government following the coronavirus crisis has reportedly been killed and eaten by a crocodile.

Speaking to the BBC, Kamonyi district mayor Alice Kayitesi said the man met his gruesome death at Nyabarongo river on Wednesday morning.

“He had broken the stay-home rule, he’s among very few people here who are not co-operating with the lockdown to stop the virus,” Ms Kayitesi told the British broadcaster.

But personally I understand and sympathise with this man. You cannot be made to be under total lockdown without being told where you will get food

@Okiya when I first saw this story yesterday the man had been shot by police on instructions of the chief. When I saw it again it had travelled all the way to New York and Bloomberg online where not one but two men had been shot. Now it is the crocodiles?

Two different stories. The shooting by police story is still there.
