spiced coffee served in the coastal city of Mombasa, Kenya.
The Coffee is served with "Halwa" a sweet dessert common on the East African coast.
Halwa is a beloved sweets among the Swahili of the East African coast
There are numerous recipes for this treat. Some recipes are fiercely guarded and have been passed on from generation to generation.
The halwa is cooked in a very large copper pot, called mirjnl, for a couple of hours. It requires constant stirring which makes it a labor intensive process.
Halwa is served at all sorts of gatherings, usually with swahili coffee (kahawa tungu).
Made from Tapioca Starch, Sugar, Ghee, Nutmeg, Cardamon, Rose Water and sometimes Sesame Seeds.

If there is something I have never gotten on well with in this town for the past 40 years, walahi its Halwa.
Stuff can make me throw up my hypothalamus bana!

The hypothalamus is a small region of the brain. It's located at the base of the brain, near the pituitary gland. While it's very small, the hypothalamus plays a crucial role in many important functions, including: releasing hormones. regulating body temperature.

Halwa hapana, that thing is uuuuuurgh
 
Kwa waarabu alkoho was banned and therefore the only stimulant was coffee. But it was too bitter and they never had sugar so had to accompany the coffee with dates and those other sweet things which unfortunately couldn't dissolve in the coffee like sugar does.

Same.way way they use water to clean their a$$es coz kwa desert there were no plants eg maigoya or paper for that but they could use water from the oasis. Also the way they use mkeka coz there was no wood to make furniture. They also used to live in tents made from animal skins coz there was no wood or cement for.construction of houses.
