Am disappointed after watching news that the guards at Komothai Girls have been charged with murdering a boy. When did we start treating heroes as villains and villains as heroes?
Picture this. A gang of six hormone-charged boys sneak into a girls dormitory. They could only have been on one mission- to rape innocent girls. Never mind that they could have been invited by some of the girls. Minors cannot consent to sex, so they were clearly on a rape mission.
Girls raise alarm. The guards, who are entrusted with their safety, respond and deal with them in kind. Then we charge them with murder.
Seriously, shouldn't the police be looking for the 5 rapists who escaped? And shouldn't the BoG of that school give a payrise to the guards for a job well done?
Those who have eaten some salt like me remember a case at St. Kizito. I know a woman who was a victim and she is still traumatized that many years later. Should the guards have looked the other way and let something similar happen? What are guards paid to do? Isn't it to neutralize any security threat?
I wish I was on twirra ningeanza hashtag. Those guards will forever be my heroes.
