but i thought after 2010 deputy presidents got some balls? au the only thing they have is that they cannot be fired easily? during moi and kibaki eras at least they were given ministry of home affairs to do something , sahi nikungoja aitwe, yet the office is allocated hundreds of millions each year, my opinion clause 4 should be amended and have the office holder actually be accountable not kulia vile ajepewa duties yet the dp should be actually be the champion of government as per clause 1. In our current scenario is it systemic isolation or self isolation?
(1) The Deputy President shall be the principal assistant of the President and shall deputise for the President in the execution of the President's functions.
(2) The Deputy President shall perform the functions conferred by this Constitution and any other functions of the President as the President may assign.
(3) Subject to Article 134, when the President is absent or is temporarily incapacitated, and during any other period that the President decides, the Deputy President shall act as the President.
(4) The Deputy President shall not hold any other State or public office.

actually the constitutions is very clear on the roles of the DP, our current scenario is that we have a very over ambitious, over suspicious , impatient DP
but those role should be amended so that the office holder is busy, at least moody awori brought the prison reforms

I think then only constitutionally defined role for the dp is sitting in cabinet. Other than that he receives designated roles from the president.
I have no problem with that. If someone is not backing your agenda, which in this case was BBI, then give that role to someone else.
To then try force someone to back BBI when you have put them to the side for disagreeing with you is where Uhuru failed. Ruto sat on the fence, neither backing nor going against it publicly although it could be argued he was against it.
Kibaki was so gracious in his final year, winding up his presidency and allowing people to prepare for the next election. Meanwhile Uhuru seems to be just getting started on a fresh mandate launching projects all over as if he is starting a new term in office.

This, but uhuru is CIC, he can launch as many projects as he wants, till next year July, even kibaki did so in 2012, including lapsset,kari project , thika superhighway was officially commissioned by kibaki in November 2012,kisumu airport was launched same year also, konza city January 2013,syokimau station, list is endless. nothing wrong uhuru doing the same, he can't vie again,that's obvious.

The contents of BBI and the new positions in the executive would open up a new avenue for him to come back because he would not be constitutionally barred from being a prime minister.
