The rate is mainly driven by imports vs exports.
This graph will show that from 2009 the import/export gap has been narrowing and eventually in 2011 became inverted.

My point was clear, that there has been footprint of his poor performance when he has been in govt. While I have disliked JS probably since I knew him, I can not at any point indulge in sanitization campaign of the greatest architect of the greatest economic quagmire of the decades-probably of the century.

Nobody is asking you to sanitize anything. Just be consistent especially on where responsibility lies. If Uhuru was responsible as minister for finance and not Kibaki who was president, then let that logic apply throughout.

My view is that responsibility lies with the president. That's why we praise Kibaki when he was president and not his ministers of finance.

We should not forget that banks have been under intense pressure from Safaricom, with Mpesa diverting a huge chunk of business from banks. Today, owners of small businesses have no business in bank halls. That Safaricom has raised the daily transactable amount to close to half a million shillings should tell you more serious businesses are processing payments through the platform. I would guess Equity lost the most business due to its characteristic customer profile, which is the perfect target for Mpesa transactions.

If you are blaming kibaki's finance minister Uhuru for kibaki govt performance, then you should blame uhuru's finance ministers Rotich, Ukur Yatani for any issues, not uhuru.

He was actually useless as finance minister, always drunk. He was to be inducted to politics but not become prezzo.
