However, the troubling part is the ability of a corrupt or questionable president to mobilize members in both houses to achieve such an outcome. When critical institutions surrender their independence, they lose authority and respect in the eyes of the people they represent. The pressing question now is: What other decisions will the president attempt to force through? It's worth noting that, until now, Ruto remains in denial about the GenZ protests, meaning he doesn't yet perceive the steep decline in his popularity.

Ruto is preoccupied with planning for the next elections, and to stand any chance, he will need to execute a strategic move. The initial step involves amassing significant resources to buy political support, hence the urgency to finalize all Adani deals. Those he cannot buy, he will likely seek to suppress, which will inevitably create numerous enemies, with Gachagua being the most embittered of all. There's nothing that enrages a power player more than being crossed by another. In gangster movies, only a funeral can quell such fury. Let's hope we never live to witness movie scenes in real life.
