How about the unintended consequences of certain legislation Governments all over are enacting in the name of Child Welfare? I have in mind here those laws which outrightly outlaw and proscribe disciplining children by spanking or by any physical touching.
Last month I met a Somali family who are in trouble with the law for trying to discipline their 15 years old daughter. She had became so unruly and promiscuous that there was nothing they could do but watch her helplessly as she dragged them from one drama to the next. She distributed her slices generously to all the Wariahes and Kafirs alike from London to Glasgow and every other town in between without a care in the world while at the same time accumulating a big cache of pornographic videos and dildos of all colours, shapes and sizes in her room.
The deeply Muslim family devised a cunning plan -they took her to Garissa ostensibly for holiday only to leave her there with her grandparents without her passport. Hopefully she would learn from difficulties and hardships back home and change her wayward ways or so they thought. It was not to be.

On realising what had transpired, the Girl escaped and run to Nairobi to the British High Commission where she alleged she had been neglected and abandoned.
The British High Commission put her in a 5 star hotel for a week as they processed her travel documents back to UK. They organised a flight and within no time she was back in UK terrorising her parents once more. Right now as we speak the Government is demanding £7K from the parents for her hotel and flight. The Parents are also being sanctioned by Social Services for Child Neglect and Abandonment.

What about those young people who get into crime due to peer pressure and peer influence. Are the parents still culpable?

And those who get influenced by mass media about instant wealth and about conspicuous consumption? Parents still to blame?
Let’s stop buck passing and look at these issues critically.

Defeatism. The buck stops with the parents period. Seems like the parents went all out attempting to lock the barn door when the horse had long bolted. Attitude and behavior is learnt. It doesn't happen overnight.

Have lived in different locations but kwa theft central takes it hands down! Farmhands will steal inputs if you don't supervise closely and then steal the produce if you don't guard it. One small slip up of your guard unapoteza kila kitu.
The only thing they seem to respect is witchcraft...... @Aviator did you get a good mganga, say who can attach genitalia on thieves foreheads 😂

Blame it on the gutamura culture that people are proud of in that area. You will find a potbellied and bearded man proudly regaling tales of how he has conned others, to the admiration of the listeners.

It's really bad I tell you, everyone is looking for an opportunity to cut corners and make an extra coin off your work, ukimwachia mafuta anakamua and do not irrigate well, dawa anapiga maji, fertilizer Wana stuff kwa nguo...... The worst is that you can't trust watchmen, inabidi ukae nao or check on them at different times . Man it's crazy

Have gone through so many different workers to realize that everyone is a potential thief.
These guys are experts for instance in tomatoes the watchmen organizes his crew armed with torches with a green filter and harvest half the ready fruit per plant .... The next morning you'll be like hii nyanya ni kama imeibiwa however there is fruit and it's impossible to do an actual count
Dawa unaandika Watchman as your bodyguard, the same with capsicum, watermelon.....

Sijui, you would literally call the guy, anakuja anasema hajui kuna nini kitchen, you ask him to go check akuje aseme and he would just go missing, you call another guy anasema anakuja and he also goes missing....this happens for like an hour from 7pm hadi 8pm wanaanza kuzima mataa. Hapo you just decide to rush into town lest you sleep hungry.

And that is just a side story....the main story was the actual work we had gone to do there, someone mislead them na mafala started threatening us vile watakuja usiku to terrorize us banae...nkt hii ni hekaya ya siku ingine

You've just reminded me of a time when I was new in a certain town in Nyanza. It happened that nilifika usiku sana and I didn't know my way. I walked into a nearby eatery/ hotel run by some Somalis and asked the one of the guys where I could get a place to sleep for the night. The guy called over one of his employees and ordered him to show me the way.
