Hustler Nation

I dont like the hustler narrative because it is just us verses them type of politics. No policy statements so far. Reminds me of the 41 v 1 politics of 2007 which was also us verses them. You might sit there comfortably cheering "hustler hustler" till your voice goes hoarse but in your neighbor's eyes you're a dynasty simply because you're doing better than him. That's how neighbors turned against each other in 2007.

This message should be pinned.

Somehow a thief has convinced the poor that he shares a history with them since he was once poor himself.
The narrative that he hustled his way into money is loopsided and wrong, factually and practically.
But the inequality in this country blinds the poor majority to that and many other facts upon which the hustler theory is based.

Exactly and this should not be a reason to vote for him.
He should put down policies he has to revive the country from the diseases at hand, corruption, weak judiciary, jobless youth, water and sanitation for all, health care for all....

Tuko pambaya. The poor people are the majority thus the narrative is gaining traction. The gap between the rich V's the poor is widening. Our policies haven't been pro poor. It's the highest time we address this widening gap as a nation.
Hustler nation, however abrasive it might be, it isn't going away very soon.

I can not fault him at the moment since it is not campaign time yet,but methinks that by the time the campaigns kicks off officially,he will have lost steam and the interest of the masses coz I know for a fact that all the poor electorate wants to hear is the hustler theory. It gives them some 'connection' with him and dare I say hope, that they can also make it.
But the elephant in the room is that they know deep in their hearts that he didn't get there through the perfect route of selfless service provision and the need to improve humanity among other qualities of real leaders. They know he stole, lied and corrupted his way to the top.
The narrative has had the masses 'justifying' the current belief in the country of 'get rich or die trying'...but you do not develop a country by handing out wheel barrows to the youth and others.
By the way,how does it help by handing out wheel barrows to fifty youths in the same locality?

The narrative is in the deconstruction phase when the "unthinking masses" re-engage their thinking gear and start questioning the narrative. The owners unleashed it too early....or perhaps there was something they expected to happen that did not happen @Meria .

I don't even want to hear that wheel barrow story, it's just sad after 2007 people still accept to be taken for fools. No words

And who are the alternatives?

And who are the alternatives?
What alternative? No one has come out expressly like the hustler has done to declare intent.
Some have been technically locked out and others are perennial competitors in the race.
And again, with 'two years' to go,there is a lot of time for other contenders to declare intent.
But the incumbent and their loyalists ain't sleeping either...
