Detectives in Kajiado Central, working with the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, have busted a daring cargo theft operation, arresting three suspects and recovering a stolen lorry. The Scania lorry, registered as T260T CGS, was loaded with maize worth Sh1.7 million and was en route to Nairobi’s Industrial Area from Tanzania when the heist took place.

According to a police report filed on March 19, 2025, the driver had made a brief stop at Maduka ya Juu in Kajiado, accompanied by a woman he had picked up at the Namanga border. Stepping away for a restroom break, he returned to find the woman holding two soft drinks. After consuming one, he suddenly felt drowsy and fell asleep inside the lorry. By the time he woke up the next morning, he was lying on the ground—his truck and the mysterious woman had vanished.

Acting fast, detectives launched a forensic investigation that led them to Embakasi, where they found the lorry abandoned and stripped of its cargo. Further probing revealed that the stolen maize had been offloaded in Kiandutu, Thika, and sold to Swami Z Millers in Makongeni. The millers have since been summoned for questioning.

Following an intensive manhunt, officers arrested three key suspects:
  • Rachael Nyambura Njuu, 29
  • Ann Nyambura Maina, 32
  • Mark Oluoch Mumasaba, 39
The lorry driver remains in custody, assisting detectives in piecing together the full extent of the crime. Meanwhile, the three suspects are undergoing processing and will soon face justice in court.
