What people forget is that assimilation had a personal touch as opposed to any other form of rule....the French took it very personally which was due to lack of foresight bit what they did for their colonies before independence was way ahead of its time...imagine accessing British education system, being able to hold two citizenships, getting slightly better blue and white collar jobs whilst the anglophone countries Africans were cooking for white men
