Gold-plated hotel opens in Vietnam, cheapest room goes for KSh 26K per night

The cheapest room in the hotel goes for $250 (KSh 26K) per night; this makes it affordable to many. With this edifice, the face of international tourism is about to change. The hotel is plated in 24-carat gold in its lobbies and also features an infinity pool at the rooftop and rooms with all cutleries, toilet seats, showerheads plated in gold.
Duong was pleased to be able to open the hotel this year and believes the establishment will make money next year. The Economic Times reported that the construction of the hotel took 11 years and a whopping $200m (KSh 21,317,920,000) to build. Coffee in the hotel is served in gold cups and bath time is taken in gilded splendour.
It has 400 rooms and will be operated under the American Wyndham Hotels brand. A room at the hotel goes $250 (KSh 26K) per night and apartments are available for rent costing from £5,200 (KSh 691,942) per square metre.

Source: Getty Images The gold used in the five-star hotel was locally sourced to cut down on building costs. “We want the ordinary people to the super-rich… to check-in," Nguyen Huu Duong, the owner of the hotel, said. "Our group has a factory that can do gold-plated stuff, so the cost for our equipment and furniture here is quite cheap,” he added.

It's not just the furnishings that are gold-plated, every meal served in the hotel will be mixed with a mystery 'gold substance'. Huu Duong is chairman of the Hoa Binh group, which owns the hotel, and he said that prices of the rooms had been kept relatively low because all the hotel's gold was sourced locally. "At the moment, there is no other hotel like this in the world," he said.
