Instead of Gikuyu elders addressing the pertinent issues affecting their nation: High divorce rate/ single parenthood; High suicide rate; Lack of social support with the exception of burials. They are busy in politics.

My good Sir, an exception is not tantamount to an expectation. In normal communities where elders are always solving society issues the above mentioned issues are low key and not pegged on 'good politics ' or any kind of politics.

I agree that there are cultural severe issues that we need to a dress. However, a simple village elder like me does not have the know-how. We do not have access to the latest research on social problems and their solutions. Give me a council of elders that has solved those problems anywhere in the world and its hats off to you. Tell me where that Utopia is.

While at it, I would like you to tell me what is so cheap with engaging politicians. Mt Kenya region pays significant taxes. What is wrong with asking that we decide how those taxes are used? What is wrong with asking that we have some cabinet positions reserved for us?

Why should a politicians be interested in our votes? Be interested in our taxes. But not be interested our priorities? Why should we be interested in such a lopsided relationship?

Genuinely, what is the value of a cabinet postion or PS position for the general public in Mt Kenya?

Hehehe if you believe politicians will consult the elders when appointing a cabinet secretary or making any political appointment's? Then you arrived early in Utopia, voters are only organised to vote for a certain candidate and that's where their engagement ends.
On asking how taxes are used that's why you elect MPs unless you want to tell me the elders have now usurped the roles of elected officials in your area.

True, ile mwisi Sugoi hawesi kubali. That's why Baba is in the equation.

Elders are leaders who have been taking a back seat. Many of them are selfless, conscientious people who are deeply respected. Can't we tap their leadership abilities? Why should politics be a dirty game. Can't we sanitize it?
