Fuliza Nation

Some are not interested in the rates ,provided watapewa pesa the rest is none of their business .Those lenders are the only people who can lend them money wengi wamechoma CV mtaani .

Hiyo mikopo ya pesa ndogo can ruin you juu ya credit rating. Kenyan laws are being changed to be similar to the US. In the near future, any debt you incur will be recordable with CRB. Those who pay get favoured by the system, kama hulipagi madeni, unaenda kwa kirimino lenders. What's more, many employers will be increasingly checking there to confirm honesty.

Bank gani hizo? The last time I checked, all information about your borrowing is shared with CRB. Whether you default or not. Actually, it's in the banks interests to identify high risk clients and charge a risk premium or deny those customers credit all together. The biggest failure of our banks is that they don't sufficiently differentiate customers using credit history.

Blame the parasitic owners of capital. It is the way world financial system works. And guess what? It has just begun in Kenya and hasn’t caught on yet.

In the West it is horrible. Folks have three or four or even more credit cards and all they do year round is a Merry-go-round of borrowing Peter to pay Paul. Kenya is being introduced into this system. We are on experimental phase. Soon folks will live on credit.

Nothing to add Sir.
Furthermore, if a bank lends to you without checking whether you are in a position to repay and actually able to pay, Courts can preclude them from their claims by stating that they lack a legitimate expectation of being paid.

true, also banks are becoming clever, if you defaulted because of loss of job but now you've found another one, they'll refinance you, pay off existing one and book you a new loan. halafu from insider point if view crb checks apply to common folks, those well connected simu hupigwa, loan officer anaambiwa a process as is, no questions or you'll go home and someone else will do that.

Na sii angefuliza tena? The day I decided to default on mobile loans ndio nilijitoa kwa shimo. Zangu zilikuwa unalipa SAA sita mchana usiku kwa bar unakopa tena leading to a vicious cycle. Nilifika mahali where someone combed me to default ndio nilipe pole pole. Tala walinipigia mpaka wakaachana na mimi.

I am finding this story hard to believe. Doesnt seem like your story @Magreb

If you have good cash flows, banks will overlook your CRB status.

I can feel the pain. I make it a habit to ask first, so that aconfirm the number is okey before sending,
Ogiek, in hindscratch this is how to do it.
Alternatively, Safaricom could consider an even more exciting product... Firirinda.
Where you borrow twice your Fuliza.

I usually ask, "nikuwekee kwa hii number?". My euphemism for "umefuliza?". You will be surprised at how many people respond "apana, hii iko na shida ya pin!".
last week I wanted to pay an uber driver via mpesa, he quickly say ,"no, hiyo number sio ya mpesa"' and gave me a new prefix number, za 011, nikajua tu ni fuliza anaogopa. but guys have very high limits, wengine hata 21k., so you can imagine the pressure to pay and resume normal usage.
