A top police official is facing intense scrutiny following alarming reports that link him directly to the death of a social media influencer and teacher.
Credible sources have revealed to
The Star that the influencer, a father of a young family, beloved high school teacher, and outspoken social media figure, was brutally tortured inside Karura Forest, a prominent Nairobi green space.
He was allegedly beaten into a coma there before being taken unconscious to Central Police Station, where he died. This account contradicts initial police claims of self-inflicted injuries.
The controversy gained significant traction after
The Star newspaper emerged with details, alleging that the official and his personal driver were present when the influencer was purportedly tortured and killed while handcuffed.
According to sources familiar with the case, the influencer was delivered to Central Police Station by officers while in good condition and booked.
However, he was later moved out at night to a forest along Kiambu Road, where he was allegedly beaten, kicked, punched, and assaulted while still handcuffed—by a group of officers, including a senior police figure and his driver.
When he slipped into a coma, his assailants reportedly bundled him back into a private vehicle and returned him to Central Police Station just after 1 am.
Reports indicate that some station officers allegedly objected to taking a bleeding, unresponsive man into custody, but were overruled by an order that came "from above."
The influencer was then placed in a solitary cell. His death was officially recorded at 3:39 am under OB number 9/06/2025.
The official's alleged role has ignited widespread criticism and condemnation across social media and political spheres.
Social media users have accused senior police leadership, including the official, of orchestrating extrajudicial killings.
Meanwhile, a deputy chairperson from the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) confirmed before the Senate that the CCTV system at Central Police Station, particularly near the cell holding the influencer, had been interfered with, a key finding in their probe.
Just yesterday, the Head of State President William Ruto called for a transparent investigation, though he cautiously cautioned against premature judgments.
The memory of the 2024 protests over extrajudicial killings, which tragically left dozens dead, has resurfaced, with some commentators even predicting the current regime’s potential collapse if the issue is not handled adequately.
