A section of experts have faulted Education CS George Magoha's decision to cancel the 2020 education calendar and issued him three alternatives to the closure of schools and candidates sitting KCSE and KCPE exams.

Among the proposals
1) is a rallying call to Magoha to shelve the repetition of classes and have students move to the next classes.
The syllabus that was to be covered in the previous class would then be covered together with the next class' syllabus to recover the lost period of education during the lockdown period.

"All students must be allowed to move to the next class. Teachers must then use recovery methods to ensure that learning losses are minimised," Mutheu Kasanga detailed in an interview with the Standard.

2) They also urged Magoha to recall students for the resumption of classes in September other than in 2021, arguing that KCPE & KCSE candidates be prioritised and allowed to sit the national exams to reduce congestion in 2021.

3) The third proposal is to facilitate e-learning by equipping students with tablets and laptops. This reviving questions on the government's Ksh 24.6 billion laptop project that collapsed.
Teachers lacking ICT skills and underdevelopment of schools were cited as major reasons for the failure of the project.

In as much as the experts supported Magoha's analysis on social distancing being a huge task to accomplish in schools, they did not offer an alternative to the issue.
While extending the period of school closure on Tuesday, July 7, Magoha detailed that schools should only resume if cases reduce consistently for 14 days at a time when social and physical distancing was the most critical factor in ensuring the safety of learners.

who are this experts and do they have kids in public schools more so those in Rural areas?
all this solution won't work and its either the kids go back in September regardless of the COVID numbers. or they wait until 2021 and the Exams pushed to 2021 (that's my EXPERT view)
whats your EXPERT view?

The third advise is hogwash and a conduit for money minting

The best advise is allow transition and use universities recovery methods eg in University when you fail two or a unit in a previous year or miss a unit, you make an effort of making it up later while you have still progressed in the next year.

It can be effected by narrowed holidays and also by being spread over for example,a current class three to proceed to class four but the unfinished syllabus to be spread over to up to class 6

But all in all they still don't want to think along this line due to archaic reasoning

isn't the syllabus for the next class dependent on the previous class? (in most University courses, they are independent)
so those in form 4 and class 8 should do the exams this year?
and what happens to the first years of this year (finished last year and hadn't started the year) and those who will finish this year? (we have double intake)
the double intake was tried and not certain it worked or is working.

Many are not dependent,eg probability in form two and surds in form four,

Bones in form four and respiration in form two or three

This can be done brother

hawa experts wa siku hizi wananishangaza sana. the education philosophy in this age is progressive ie the learners build on what they learnt in previous grades. how can one be taught both grades at once?

Mutheu Kasanga is chair of the Kenya Private school alliance in some region and her expert view is clouded by vested interests. we can understand why she wants the children back in school yesterday - whether they die or not -

Magazeti yaache kuita kila mtu expert.

cku hizi kila mtu ni expert kila mahali.
even local stations have very questionable experts in their panels.

but si ni sisi tu tuliingia box.
Experts warned us that the best solution would be to build computer labs in schools and equip them.
but parents with kids joining class one could hear none of it and here we are.
Together with Magoha Ouru was allover our faces with his 100% transition sasa ata ambia watu nini coz country zingine ziko na cases mob but watoto bado nasoma

The fool who calls himself an expert can suggest students to be allowed to proceed to next class, that the uncompleted syllabus will combined with that of the next class, what a stupid suggestion, That students should be recalled back to school, terrible recklessness in the name of getting money coz the man has some potion in private Education sector ,so he doesn't care for the welfare and safety of the children coz he is driven by greed for money,, Still calls himself an expert,,you have to realize in sept there are only 2 months ,what can you achieve within those 2 months, and I believe he has no school going children,he is driven by personal greed,we know private school teachers are had hit,by the measures taken by C's is also for their safety,, So Quack expert Makau Mutheu,, leave us alone with your greed,,

Let children stay home till it's safe,, we are in Kenya , can't compare ourselves with some countries,if your child falls sick God forbid,it's you as a parent nothing to do with other countries,, What C's has done is for the best interest n safety of children,,, we should be patient till it's safe. But I know private schools are hard hit, remember safety first
