Defying social distancing recommendations due to the coronavirus, authorities in El Salvador crammed prisoners - albeit some wearing maks - tightly together in prison yards while searching their cells over the weekend.

President Nayib Bukele ordered the crackdown after more than 20 people were murdered in the country Friday and intelligence suggested the orders came from imprisoned gang leaders.
The lockdown came amid fears over the spread of the novel coronavirus in Latin America's notoriously overcrowded, unruly prisons, threatening to turn them into an inferno.

The Puente Alto prison in downtown Santiago, Chile, had the largest of Latin America's prison virus outbreaks so far, with more than 300 reported cases. The prison's 1,100 inmates are terrified. Social distancing is hard to practice in jail.
"They are all in contact with each other," said prison nurse Ximena Graniffo.

Latin America's prisons hold 1.5 million inmates, and the facilities are often quasi-ruled by prisoners themselves because of corruption, intimidation and inadequate guard staffs. Low budgets also create ideal conditions for the virus to spread: There is often little soap and water, and cell blocks are crowded....

They should let as many prisoners as possible get infected and die. Better yet they should just gas them all and say it was Covid-19. Whoops! Sorry, we'll do better next time. Before you say it's inhumane to execute prisoners, go on LiveLeak and watch crime videos from Latin America. These people are not human beings. When they go to hell shetani mwenyewe atakunja mkia.

Cant blame the guards considering they are dealing with violent fools. They are dealing with thugs who are foolish enough to tattoo gang names on their faces.
These countries are dirt poor, corrupt governments, confused culture, lack of identity and belonging, " Catholic'' Christians and cartels. Beneficiaries of such are people in Govt in cahoots with cartel leaders and the American govt.

By the way what makes these Latino gangs that cruel and vicious? Even the Italian Mob or Russian does not exhibit that kind of cruelty. Then it is confusing when they intertwine all these with their Catholic belief even making shrines at home.
