Dr. Menzwa

Today while tidying my library, I came across a script for a CAT in yr1 (I got 3.5/30). But this question by one good Dr. Menzwa of Moi Univ tickled me.

A child weighing 50kgs wants to throw a small stone weighing 20tonnes at an initial velocity of zero to eventually reach a terminal velocity 2000km/s in 17 seconds. Calculate the minimum force he can put on his arms and the angle of projection so that the stone reaches the desired velocity within a distance of 0.38m.

Now, most of us skipped that question coz of the absurd figures used. And got a zero for that question. During revision, the lecturer promised us that the question will be in the exam, and we had to cram his cooked-up solution for the sake of passing.

Talk of clueless lecturers, and Dr. Menzwa gets the trophy.

Ndume.
He had a terrible handwriting and inaudible accent.
Like one time he was telling us "a bang overs Turendiu 1milliin ....".
It wasn't until we struggled to read his handwriting did we know he meant " a bank offers to lend you.....".
Worst nightmare.
Hahaha

The correct answer is.. "A child weighing 50kgs cannot throw a stone weighing 20tonnes :
:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
The problem with the question was an assumption of initial velocity of zero. Guy spent two hours convincing us that the stone was initially at rest when it was created. Yet part of the solution would have been to establish the initial velocity.

Should start calling you Turendiu...

Hehehe. Reminds me of a lecturer who said 'simbotoms'. No one could understand what he said until he wrote 'symptoms' on the board.
