It's a case of volenti non fit injuiria
Many innocent Kenyans were conned their hard earned money !'clever' folks bought land in Nairobi for 50k in early 2000's from a Legio Maria guy, who used to issue them with a certificate of ownership, while conniving with officials at the city planning department of Nairobi city council.
The said land belonged to the late Kirima, Embakasi ranching and yes Wayleaves for utilities like sewer, water and electricity.
There is a saying when a deal is too good think twice, greed did many people in, pale syokimau, a guy after searching and seeing that the land belonged to the KAA in the green card still bought the land and got issued by a certificate of ownership ( hii upuzi sijawahi kubali if there isn't a title and a land board count me out). Many innocent Kenyans were conned their hard earned money !
Hapa kasarani many including my relas had bought land deep inside kasarani stadium ,they had put up houses, shops lakini wapi they were all demolished, but mabwenyenye wakubwa how grabbed same land ,sold to developers, mansions cropped up and poor desperate Kenyans bought these houses with no documents. They are still in hot soup, one day these houses will come down !
They were compensated.Kiuliso tu. What of those power lines from power generating stations zinapita katikati ya shamba ya watu? Old ones from the 80's where folks just allowed them to criss cross their land parcels seeing that they were new tech at the time?
Many Kenyans have a “don’t care” attitude towards land issues even when they are fully aware that what they are engaging in is illegal.
I agree completely, funny enough, they wouldn't heed advice contrary to what they believe, strangely some are graduates and a good percentage have atleast some tertiary qualifications. Many Kenyans have a “don’t care” attitude towards land issues even when they are fully aware that what they are engaging in is illegal.
Unfortunately, many will continue to suffer financial losses needlessly due to this lackadaisical approach to life.
It is the high time that Folks realised that Ignorance of the Law is no Defence.
Not pylons, these normal ones with three lines. Halafu they were erected in the 80s.They were compensated.
In early 70's, Put Sarajevo was constructing a road, and they needed to put a trench to drain water. So they had to use private land, including my dad's. They paid mzee 1613/= for this.
So trust me, everywhere a pylon passes, it has been paid for.

The Legio Maria seller was later gunned down either in 2014 or 2015.True that. Tulikuwa tunaambiwa 50K for 50 by 100.
Those are 6OKV lines. They are silent on those ones, but don't worry where you have an absolute title to the land.Kiuliso tu.
