Assuming this story is truthful, why would someone own such kind of a gun ka yeye sio govt sniper?

I do beleive them. Kuna time alshabab wali strike. Among the responses were two kenyan citizens. I cant remember their names, but walikuwa armed na silahi more than our forces.

Hizi silaha ziko. Especially for people into arms, kidnappings, drugs, and kina echesas

To increase accuracy on medium to long distance targets.

In this case, it is wrong to call this a sniper rifle. The M16A2/M4 is an assault rifle with a range of 500 metres. The scope on it is meant for a sniper/hunting rifle.

There is a third known as designated marksman rifle where the gun used can be a stock/modded assault rifle, but the scope used will be an ACOG sight, not this kind of scope posted by DCI.

Dictionary definition, yes. Reality, not really. A ridge, hilltop, rooftop can do.

At distances greater than 300 metres, a sniper would want an accurate rifle, which is a proper sniper rifle that would be a bolt action rifle, or in the case of the DMR, a semi auto with a longer barrel and a high rate of fire.
