That body in the vehicle reminds me of a day I had gone to see a patient in General. While leaving, I saw a mini crowd gathered around a police cruiser like that one and my curiosity took me there. They were gawking at a very dusty (just like that one) partially burnt body that I learnt had been picked at Dallas after a mob lynching. Apparently the police who responded believed the bugger was dead and just threw him into the vehicle. They were now processing the paperwork that would declare him DOA so they take him to morgue.
Suddenly, one hand started twitching; slowly at first then more rapidly. Then he started turning the head very slowly. It was then that one wag shouted at the inspector of police leading the team "Haiya, ako hai". The IP came, took a look and shouted to his men who were hanging nearby "We, nanii, kuja ondoa hii kitu hapa". The driver quickly jumped in and drove round to the mortuary.
I only imagined that when they arrived at the morgue they looked for a silaha butu for the coup de grace.

These boda boda thieves are very ruthless. Three weeks back they attacked one boda boda guy at Kamae on the way from Kahawa West with pangas and left him for dead in a bush. Alipatikana asubuhi clinging to dear life and taken to KU referral hospital.
There was also a syndicate from Ukambani that used to target riders around Kahawa West/Kamae/ and the ruiru bypass. They could kill at least one rider every month. The last straw was when they killed a young man, form four leaver, who had taken a loan from his uncle to buy a boda boda. they were hunted down na wakamalizwa kama panya

Lakini the land of opportunities ni ngumu they lynch a thief especially if he's a local. I was once around Mama Ngina and a thief from Kirinyaga was caught, they started beating him. I called 912 and reported that a lynching was happening. The officer told me his people wako on the ground. i left he scene only to learn later that the thief was eventually killed.

I also used to think it was barbaric until the da y niliwekewa a rusty simu kwa shingo na kutolewa kila kitu including pesa ya kutoa wife maternity. And to imagine I was coming from doing a Samaritan act!
