Two individuals were shot at and later arrested after they were allegedly found to be spying on President Uhuru Kenyatta's elite Recce Squad.
The two suspects were arrested on Saturday, January 4, while taking photos at the GSU Recce Company in Ruiru and were arraigned in court on Monday, January 6.
James Mburu Ikaba and Miriam Njoki were in a Toyota Land Cruiser parked near the camp and tried to flee after the police spotted them. This prompted the officers to pursue them and allegedly shot at the vehicle, deflating the tires.

A prompt search of the vehicle led to the discovery of seven rounds of ammunition.
The two were later detained at Juja Police Station. Upon searching Mburu's house in Marurui Estate detectives seized a Ceska pistol, two magazines, 45 rounds of ammunition and a shotgun.
Further interrogation at Anti Terror Police Unit offices compelled the duo to allegedly confess to carrying out surveillance.
Sergent Geoffrey Busolo, an ATPU officer, confirmed the incident, stating that the two may face charges for violating Section 5 of the Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2012, which attracts a jail term not exceeding 20 years.
The two were detained for 14 days and investigations are underway.
