Challenges facing local artists

Every time I look at how our entertainment section in particular music industry is going I really feel pain in my heart . Our local TV shows and local promoters are always focused on foreign music instead of promoting our own starting from home and then our region that's east Africa towards the continent and the world at large .
Our people tend to have more knowledge about foreign music than our local music produced within our country. Perhaps the don't understand that those foreign artists they are claiming to be their favorites who supported from their own locality till the made it to the international level .
I would like to urge our people to support our local music and appreciate it since it shows our identity .
Personally am a musician singing along with my crew . The crew goes by the name DISANJ GANG , and I would really appreciate that those who will come across this thread subscribe to our youtube channel.

The 'music' consists of monotonous body-worship and very inadequately endowed 'twerkers' dancing to an off-the-shelf loop.

What is 'local' about your act? You'll need to do much more than this.

Sauti sol, heart the band are all local acts, but quite unique and enjoy massive local and international airplay. When you claim to be an artiste be creative, sing about common daily problems being encountered by youths in a language that cuts across all ages.
When you sing about craving ya kishada/ or sex all the time, you only excite kids who still live with their parents. BE CREATIVE.

Tulichoka sana. Kila mtu amekuwa producer eastlands, producing useless songs trying to get some few bits of fame, hoping for a breakthrough kama akina Ethic.

Corona has made things worse, they have now time to fleece these upcoming musicians. Last month alone we have received more than 100 new songs, mostly za kishada na twerking as stated above. Industry haiwes work hivyo. Hizo music wataona tu na mabeshte na iishie hapo. Hata kwa mix ya mat ngumu sana kuzieka.
