Safaricom and Kenyan banks oppose CBK's plan to build a new payment system at a cost of Sh26 billion.

They say that it will cause inefficiencies and duplication and proposed improving existing Pesalink

Safaricom is definitely looking at protecting its cash transfer business. But of course that 26 billion figure needs to be interrogated. The biggest bank in the region KCB spent 2.2 billion for its core software spanning 6 countries
