Russia can't and won't attack a NATO country now or even in the foreseeable future. The only way they can do is to arm Houthis with dangerous missiles that can sink the US and British naval ships/aircraft carriers at the sea.
The only possibility of use of nukes is low for now. But it could rise if the Russians are losing. They'd certainly nuke Ukraine if they're losing Crimea.
Also, I don't see how the US can opt out of the war, with or without Biden. Probably we'll have an year or two before it ends after Russia's objectives are met in the battlefield
