Bodies of Missing Mother and Children Found

Three bodies were found buried in a shallow grave within Thingithu Estate in Nanyuki, after the arrest of Major Peter Mugure on Saturday, November 16, 2019.
The bodies are believed to be of his estranged wife Joyce Syombua, her two children Shanice Maua and Prince Michael who went missing on October 26, 2019.
Citizen TV reported that the discovery was made after a suspect led the police to where the bodies were buried.

Citizen TV also intimated that the police discovered the body of the two children stacked atop their mother's in a shallow grave.
The case was brought into focus when Syombua’s mother Elizabeth Maua went to Soweto Police Station to report that her daughter was missing, and her friend, identified as Farizana made the same reports at Nanyuki Police station.
Police investigations launched immediately after and discovered Syombua's phone a day later inside a 4NTE matatu that they were alleged to have traveled in back to Kayole where they lived.
Reports also indicate that Syombua and Mugure, who had been in an on-and-off relationship for 13 years, had an agreement that Syombua allows the children to regularly visit Mugure after the court granted Syombua sole custody of the children.
Reports from K24 revealed that call and text records indicate that on October 25 and 26, Syombua regularly communicated with her female friend, telling her that Mugure had taken the children out, but did not return home with them.
Syombua's friend then revealed that she attempted to contact Syombua on the evening of October 26 but her phone could not go through.
The suspect is currently being held at the Nanyuki Police Station.
