After holding off George Bush's ARV donations for months because of taxes, kuna mtu aliamka asubuhi akavaa Sunday best suit, akapigia media houses simu, akapewa bendera to flag off a lorry carrying donations!!!

What fuckery is this? Maybe mimi ndio sielewi.

But I find this country has descended into low levels of bonoboism.

Meanwhile, some of us who received the first dose of AZ vaccine tumeambiwa hakuna second dose.

Since July 2019, USAID had issued a memo to all implementing partners that they should charge VAT to projects coz GOk was refusing to honor USAID’s DA1 forms. Yaani gava wanted to be taxing donations and USAID projects. To imagine how much work USAID does for MOH, and even other ministries, and the funds they pump into the economy, it’s difficult to understand why anyone would want to soul the relationship.
Right now, due to a combination of forces (e.g trumps policies) and other issues, USAID has been cutting back funding, and reducing project implementation periods etc. What that means is lower employment especially of people in the field and exposure to risks e.g if they cut funding for key medicines such as ARVs.

Hii vita na USAID I think goes deeper, something must have gone down for gova to say, fuck our citizens, but we have to press some balls

I think you must be right, coz the same problems are not facing UN agencies or other INGOs with hosting agreements or similar tax free status.

One major factor people don' t know is that Kenya rebased its economy in 2014. We became a lower middle income country. By the time Trump was becoming president in 2016, there is no way his administration was going to give the same money to a middle income country. The money we were meant to receive went to other needy nations.

The saddest part is we were middle income only on paper.
