Are These Idiots Setting Kenya up for Civil Strife?

Behind Closed Doors: The Unseen Motives of U.S. Intelligence in Kenya
It begins with "security cooperation" that allows western criminal operatives (CIA) to enable local security organs to maintain "stability" using overzealous means that border on crime, and which eventually inflame citizens to armed uprising. That is where we are headed considering the latest development where security organs have direct access to Safaricom systems that they use to track down government critics for acts that do not warrant such interventions. We should not forget that we have a restive youth population that is one funder away from turning the country upside down. Recall that we never had a terrorism problem until they offered their help.

And no one should be fooled by public pronouncements condemning this or that practice because these countries are known for duplicity. Outfits such as the CIA exist to execute what the West believes in but cannot advocate for or pronounce openly.

True. They have always been there but with very specific and limited use. However, what has changed is the allowable reasons for the use of these tools, the type of tools that are permissible, the type of personnel allowed to use them, and the maintenance of use records for accountability purposes. Don't you think you would be worried if some untraceable parties can easily trace your location and hijack you for uttering something someone didn't like? And now that surveillance tools are becoming even more sophisticated, their unregulated use by security organs can only mean disaster. It is only a matter of time before private citizens gain use of the same.
The CIAs of this world are worried about the spread of unfriendly influence in the country and will not hesitate to lend a hand if doing so furthers their interests. I'm sure they will work out ways to prevent critics from hiding behind starlink.

Reminds when when George W had the Patriot Act become law. Only difference ni sisi tuna operate using secrecy.

If you genuinely believe this, especially after reading that PDF, then I have nothing more to say.
Yesterday's excesses pale compared to the situation we are witnessing today. Some tools are being used widely and casually across departments, some of which needed very high authorization in the past. There was abuse in the past, but everything seems grey today. The situation could be much worse than we imagine. I would not be surprised to discover more nefarious spy tools being used on citizens (I guess that is how they got Gachagua).
