On a serious note and as a fairly new parent married to a career woman and to make it worse, during a global panemic, I have found myself in unknown territories at times regarding the bringing up of mjunior.

I wouldn't get to an extent of carrying the kid kwa mgongo but vitu kama kumuosha, kubadilisha diaper, kumfeed, kumbembeleza alale as we play Baby Shark on loop...eh, kulea ni kazi but so fulfilling.

What would you be willing to do or not do coz mimi naona hakuna kitu impossible...

I have an acquaintance just like you. No boundaries with the kid. However, in a puzzling twist of fate, his baby moma is a conservative shiny eye from Ol Kalou (How they clicked, dated and got a kid I have no idea). She experienced culture shock when he would change his kid's diapers. She grew up knowing a man can never do that and this was reinforced by her elder brother whom she lived with as she was growing up. She gets restless when he ventures into the kitchen or tries to hang around for some time in her kitchen.

Reminds me of a Bukusu colleague of mine. He grew up having never stepped into a kitchen and their culture even prohibits his wife greeting his father in law kwa mkono ama kuketi kwa meza moja time ya kula.
Sasa his wife got twins and mans had to step up. His family was mad kujua mwana wao anapikia bibi but sasa hapo ndio unajua kuna knowledge and wisdom.
Reason I mentioned pandemic ni coz normally you'd have many people visiting over which is now not that safe so kama Sundays when our day help huwa off, tunapika pamoja and it's fun when one has an open mind.

Kazi ya diapers mimi huwa najipa shuguli kabisa na sisumbuliwi ama nilete riot kwangu.

Usiambie watu but vile mtoi alizaliwa, nilinunua surgical gloves in case of emergency nikijua sitawahi mbadilisha and when I eventually did, never wore them again. We keep on laughing about it
