It's location (is) was very far from the lake.

I would guess this was by effluent - the leakage of industrial water from the factory to the lake. Or even by seepage?

Not just Union carbide. The positioning of the lake below the city means all affluence is washed into the lake.

There are underground streams running from menengai to the lake
One day few meters from were Eveready factory use to be , a roadside kioksi was swallowed at night ! Some men who were asleep in side heard sufurias and pans making noise as they were swept !
