He was never forthright. Even in supporting Raila, he waited till the very end and only ever kept referring to him as 'huyu mzee'.
Come to think of @upepo's question, I get the eerily feeling that he had genuine fear in telling the nation the evil he had seen in the person that is the current CIC.
Perhaps he knew that a scorned #2 at the time would go all out to destroy them mercilessly if he became #1.

We all know something crooked about almost every politician, but that does not prevent their election. There must have been something to the extreme that Uhuru witnessed, not the usual canvassing for an extra shilling here and there.
