Any reason for mishandling this man?

Why can't someone sue individuals for violating basic rights?
Please kuja kwa ground .On paper its probable but try suing. Unless uko loaded you will end up in more trouble. There is Kenya you read on documents and what happens day in day out.
Kama hauna pesa never kanyaga wire za police .Never i repeat never .

Police are not supposed to commit crimes when enforcing the law. Photos show that the alleged offender had no injury while being arrested. None of the videos available show him resisting arrest. There was no justification in use of force. It must have been the police who beat him up. That is against the law.

He should sue the policemen involved in their personal capacity as well as the police force as an institution.

At the moment he can only sue the Police Service until such a time the officers involved are deemed to have violated the law in the discharge of their duties, criminal charges would then be brought against them by the DPP in their personal capacity.

So that warrants the kind of beatings? Why couldn't they take him to court and let the courts deal with him as per the "serious" crimes you have indicated?

D- still haven't grasped the wisdom in Katiba 2010 granting Kenyans such wide ranging powers, when they do they will protect protestors rather than fight them.
