In the pursuit of kitunguu today, I met a certain mzee and he told me that the current rains are nothing new. Specifically, he told me that just before independence, there was something similar, if not worse. I also remembered el nino in the late '90s.
Experts tell us that this is as a result of diminishing forest cover.

This leads me to question the validity of this claim, considering that Kenya was heavily forested before independence yet similar (probably worse) rains were experienced. I think rain comes from God, not forests.
