after 4 years of campaigning, they're doing what they're supposed to

It's never too late to do what they're supposed to do, if they really want to.
Maisha ya hustlers will greatly change by legislation, if they can champion such, no need of handouts . Regardless of who is cic, laws should be made that favour mwananchi.
let's see the other political divide also championing for pro raia legislation.
But as second in command, he should have pushed for early debates .
if they can insult each other based on legislations rather than tribal numbers, the better for us. But also raia has a role to play .

If certain individuals didn't decide to go all in on BBI and abandon the big 4 agenda, one of which was universal healthcare, I wonder how much of that plan would have succeeded.

UHC is not cheap to finance. If I remember correctly, Ruto gave an example of how his NHIF deduction was not consistent with his salary. The deductions needed to be higher, around 200k.

How much resistance will it face?

That will be interesting to navigate. Most will probably want to stick to their private insurance because of reliability. I think employees should be allowed to between UHC and private insuarance. But first, make UHC competitive.

UHC without doctors is bound to fail, UHC, where doctors and nurses are paid peanuts or have their salaries delayed, will not work, mashida ziko ni chungu mzima

That is true. But we have to start somewhere. This country needs major surgery in practically all sectors. Let's cross the first hurdle in parliament and see where it goes.
