The Congo is one of the largest and strongest rivers on earth and offers vast opportunities for hydropower generation. Therefore, there has been the idea of building a massive $80BN mega dam: The Grand Inga Dam. In today's video, we will take a closer look at this huge mega-project and whether it can ever be built!

This may never be built, bei ya battery ikiendelea kuanguka at the same rate we have seen over the last decade, there will be no takers for such a project

Hydro is going nowhere, chinese are big in alternatives but they recently build the Three Gorges Dam .

Project kama hii needs partner states in EAC to pool resources and each to be a shareholder in it. Then EAC will sort power challenges .

There's an australian billionaire who is pushing for it

Problem is, this is not china, these guys will need to raise capital na hapo ndio wataambiwa waandike a million and 1 reports comparing to solar & battery
No. 2, hiyo part ya neighbouring nations coming together pia faces the same kizungumkuti, no country wants to depend on another for a huge % of its energy needs. Again they will compare solar battery installation located at home vs a dam in Congo

Solar is untenable even if it were to be installed for free. It cannot support the kind of industrial base the region aspires to, which is manufacturing and resource extraction. As for inter-country cooperation, it is feasible considering that regional grid interconnections have become commonplace.
