Hakuna mahali imesema term ni 5 years. Imesema tu term inaanza akikuwa sworn in na inaisha when the next one is sworn in.
Says nothing about time duration between the above events. In either case, the beginning of a term might be delayed by a successful petition or a runoff.

But he was still the president before swearing in. Extension of the first term. Ama kuendenga aje?

A term is by definition between his swearing in and the swearing in of the next president (or his own swearing in if re-elected) (articles 142 and 136)
The only place it talks of duration is article 146 (4) (a), which says a DP who succeeds a dead/impeached president shall be assumed to have served a full term if his swearing in happens 2.5 years before the next scheduled election. How to calculate the 2.5 years might be a kizungumkuti but since neither death or impeachment has happened, it's a moot question.

The president continues to serve well past the election day! Its not like he ceases on the midnight before election day but rather he continues to dispense his duties until he hands over to the president elect well after a run-off or a petition has been concluded.... But then again am no lawyer.
 
With exactly a year to go, Matatus can now carry full capacity. What I'm impressed with is that some intent to continue with the covid capacity = comfort for the passengers. Naomba sasa wafungue curfew.
