Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVTs) have faced criticism for various reasons, leading to the perception that they are suboptimal compared to traditional transmissions.

One primary concern is their often criticized "rubber band" effect, where the engine revs without a corresponding increase in speed, resulting in a disconnected driving experience. CVTs are also prone to overheating, leading to reduced longevity and potential costly repairs.

Moreover, enthusiasts find them less engaging due to the absence of distinct gear shifts. Critics argue that CVTs sacrifice performance and durability for fuel efficiency. Despite advancements, skeptics maintain reservations about the long-term reliability and driving satisfaction offered by CVT transmissions.

A big number just hates CVT without a reason. If all manufacturers would shift to DCT they would still complain. I believe every engine + gearbox combo iko na target market.
