WasilipweThe government is offering a monthly gross wage of 45 000-70 000 Kenyan shillings for interns, rather than the Ksh206 000 specified in the 2017 collective bargaining agreement.

This are unsustainable CBA !Wasilipwe
I'm usually of the view politicians should be volunteers, and given an allowance for basics like food, rent, school fees, healthcare etc.If we have the best paid politicians, even better than some developed countries, why don't we have the best paid teachers, nurses and doctors too?
The unconstitutional intentions of hiring CASs should be dropped for the sake of this. What people are not saying is that Uhuruto signed that CBA under duress in the run-up to elections. Also, that time the interns were fewer.
Paying nearly 1,500 interns 200k each, mostly in allowances, is simply unsustainable.
Incidentally, that is double the salary of a fully-qualified doctor in more than 80pc of African and Asian countries.
Crazy...
Good luck with that. Then next we will also discuss cutting salaries of elected and appointed government officials.
Given that the strike was on its 100th day and the doctors were not willing to negotiate, if you were president what would you have done?70k is quite little but then 206k was a mistake. Na ndio nasemanga Uhuru was just one incompetent buffoon who deserves nothing but public execution. Why enter into a contract that you know will be difficult to fulfill? Why didn't he pay?
Do we blame Kibaki pia? This are unsustainable CBA !
inherited mess from uhuru
Note that he signed because of elections not because he was giving a damn about the consequence of the strike on healthcare. This man repeatedly made decisions only meant to please the masses. Despite their poor pay, he made sure teachers would never strike again by killing their union.Given that the strike was on its 100th day and the doctors were not willing to negotiate, if you were president what would you have done?
Warped logic. If we have the best paid politicians, even better than some developed countries, why don't we have the best paid teachers, nurses and doctors too?
The CBA was signed in June 2020. More than two years before elections. But anyway, my earlier question is if you were president, what would you have done?Note that he signed because of elections
Be clear here !supply
