So, I'm cycling along this dirt road like I have done many times before. There is this groceries kiosk run by a mother of twin toddlers. As usual, the two toddlers are playing outside the kiosk. I pass them without much glancing in their direction; I am heavily steeped in other meditations. It happens that after about 100 meters, I come across another pair of twins of about 3 to 4 years, in the company of their sister or perhaps other female relative. This encounter jolts me from my mediation as I realize this is the first time in my life to sight two sets of twins a few minutes apart. I think about it for some time, but I eventually dismiss it as a coincidence. However, in the following days, the incident keeps popping up in my mind. I resolve to invest some more attention in the issue. I make sure to wander through the general area every time I'm passing through, keenly eying any kids I come across, and stopping to make inquiries every time I notice a close resemblance between a pair. Three months later, I have sighted seven pairs of twins, five of which live within a radius of about 200 meters, with ages ranging between 2 and 4 years. The families are not related in any way as they are all recent settlers in the area. Could this be a coincidence? I’m not sure. I still wander through the general area occasionally, and might launch a more-focused census if the random sightings reach 10 sets. Why is this inquiry important? If the twin phenomenon is caused by certain environmental factors, the same factors could be responsible for other conditions.
