Locals will never develop those places ,look at rwaka - banana . mbarì ya kuhara pale rwaka gachie, gacharage ,ndenderu used to clear each other like hell. Ukionekana kwa stage heading town ,young ninjas wait for you wakupole jioni. Same with mbarì ya mbogo pale mucatha, duka hakuwa ilikuwa inachika , kironyo an old business man there had a hard time. They later started selling broti to any buyer . Wakaenda rift valley valley in early 90s to buy 10 acres ,kiambaa. (You know that story ) clever local divided their plots ,sold a piece and develop rental buildings. Clever one like guango came up with estates and totally changed the village.
Untill that happen along southern bypass expect carwash and robbery to thrive !

I read somewhere one time that one of the indicators of economic growth is the building industry. We also say in Greek that 'they do not finish grass for each other' ! When the market saturates natural selection will take place. Only the efficient will survive the rest will be forced to move in to the other shitty idea they discussed in their local.

For sure the place, previously a hardship area, inadevelop a break-neck speed. Just to illustrate, most bus companies are now using the route to western Kenya and beyond, and so are trucks. Commerce is picking up.

On the downside accidents are crazy, especially since the locals don't have 'highway manners'. Unapiga corner unakutana live live na nyang'au na punda na maji right in the middle of the road.................
