This is Guka - Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeso! Hii Si Ni Mateso Bana?

Field Marshal

Elder Lister
This is the aftermath of demolitions at Kariobangi today, on the land allegedly owned by NWSC for sewerage works.

Now, you know I don't support this bonobo behaviour of breaking the law under the guise of 'poverty'. Kuzaana kama panya; kujenga slums na vibanda kila mahali; ku-dump takataka kiholelaholela; etc etc. Mimi husema kila mtu abebe mzigo wake laa zivo ajitie kitanzi atuondolee umeffi.

But I do have some humanity bana. Honestly, isn't this the worst possible time to be doing this? Money is in short supply and getting funds to pay for basics like food is hard, leave alone getting funds to relocate and pay rent for new homes. Because of the curfew masaa ya ku-hustle ukitafuta nyumba imenyongwa. Na hauwezi enda shags because you can't move out of Nairobi.

Yes, these guys are in the wrong and under normal circumstances I would say ferk them, but sometimes we need to show compassion, especially when children are involved. Sasa imagine uko na watoto watatu, kazi imekatika na hauna makao. The few belongings you had have been crushed by Sqny. Where do you start honestly in these very hard times?

Hapa naona kama serikali ime-jifinger vibaya sana...............

Very sad, you put yourself into their shoes and you see what kind of a nightmare they are in...watu wanakuanga kwa hii gava ni wapumbavu kabisa. People who have totally refused to use their brains kabisa.

Apparently the owners had identified a piece of land through their former mp Adolf Muchiri. They approached the then City Council which advised them to form a group and apply which they did.
They were then issued with allotment letters for the plots and later on title deeds.
Yaani the people being evicted hold valid titles for the piece of land issued by the government.
They followed all the right procedures but have still been left homeless and incurred huge losses.
That's GoK for you.

This is how evictions are done in Kenya so if you find the actions of government actors to be appalling and callous today then you must make the same pronouncement over all the others that have happened in the past in the same manner.

You do not want anyone you care for on the other side of an eviction notice or these scrupulous "private developers" , utajua just how helpless one can be in this country.
