I take it as a sign that if one is easily made to pick a side, for or against something, they are mentally unsophisticated. That is how politicians easily gain power over people, they will make you invest emotionally on one side or the other of an artificial divide. Like the recent hustler vs dynasty narrative that is otherwise complete nonsense. They know people hate being wrong, so one will defend their side beyond reason even in the face of evidence to the contrary.

The manipulators exploit your primal instincts such as jealousy and insecurities so you identify with groups that have absolutely no benefit beyond the nomenclature and perhaps giving the follower a sense of (false) security (in numbers).
