The Beginnings of Policing

The first organized police force appeared in Ancient Egypt about 4000 years ago. Members of this force were exclusively drawn from nomadic Nubian tribes from Southern Egpyt, and were known as Medjay warriors. Armed with wooden sticks, they were tasked with ensuring security in public parks, markets, and temples, among other public places. One of the innovations the Medjay police came up with was the use of animals to apprehend criminals. Apart from dogs, they also used trained baboons to apprehend criminals. The second choice was genius considering that it almost impossible for a human to outmaneuver a baboon.

Thought the first police officers were tasked with cleaning towns and nothing to go with crime and deviance during industrialization and urbanization?

Maheni mama Saito, I'm a bit far from my reading hard copy materials would have shared something insightful.
I would love to see your sources.
But the little reading I have done places the earliest known police force in Egypt circa 2600bc when they were building the pyramids.
Their primary role was to police slaves.
Sadly, these men were appointed from amongst the slaves.

Does that sound familiar?
Does the word Ngati ring a bell?

You are very wrong. These were proffessionals employed by the state.

Actually, the first police officers were bodyguards, and these were appointed from families of trusted people, the Egyptians. That is during the Old Kingdom period.

Later, this changed during the First Intermediate Period of Egypt, and the police were hired from amongst others, Nubians.
Now, look at the history of Nubians in Egypt, and you will get my point.

You have just introduced new facts, which cannot make up for your previous totally wrong assertion that the policemen were used to police slaves.

My source is concentrated on crime and social order especially during industrialization and urbanization especially in US

Ngati was coined from the home guards of the colonial Era, of course they were sellouts who choose to snitch on locals to the white masters.
