In the latest developments, South Africa has taken Israel to the International Court of Justice, accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of committing genocide with its military to the people living in Gaza.
South Africa wants the court to treat the matter as urgent and order Israel to ceasefire.
However, in its response, Israel has urged the ICJ to reject the matter, referring to the case by South Africa as blood libel.
The International Court is said to have commenced investigations on crimes against humanity committed by both Israel and Hamas groups.
According to court papers, South Africa says the act and commission by Israel are genocidal in character because they are intended to bring about the destruction of a substantial part of the Palestinian national, racial and ethnical group.
South Africa further states that provisional measures are necessary in the case they have filed to protect against further, severe and irreparable harm to the rights of the Palestinian people under the Genocide Convention. This the s=country says continues to be violated with impunity .
