It's important to note except housing issues which is going to be properly legislatured all other taxation are legal. We must pay taxes and later we got the rights to question how the taxes are used. If misused or not serving the public fairly like NG-CDF we scrap those legislations . This is my take any anybody included @Okiya can feel free to challenge it.

No one has an issue with taxation, but the question up to what levels is enough? We are a third world country which import virtually everthing, most people can barley afford balanced diet daily.
Income levels have stagnated for years, doesn't it make sense to enlarge the tax base instead of squeezing the 8-5 guys who are viewed as anti taxation for simply crying out they don't have enough disposable?
They are taxed payee yet when the buy goods with the reminder, they are slapped with VATs on virtually everything .
Sahi fuel is key in virtually anything in kenya but watu wanalia because disposable is very low. Basic food prices are still sky high even for your customers.

If funds are low, why can't the goverment cut expenses like high salaries and unnecessary offices? Or make companies set base in kenya and employ more thereby increasing the taxbase?

What about first questioning about the current taxes we pay? Are you happy with the way the current taxes you pay are being used?

You couldn’t be so wrong if you tried. Your list of income streams for Governments is deeply deficient and wanting.
Governments also have trading companies (parastatals, to you and me), land leases, infrastructure leases (eg airwaves, internet, telephone), licenses of all sorts, visas, endowments and even Grants and Aid as sources of income.

When it comes to taxes, Government must be practical, prudent and empathetic. Kenya Kwisha taxing the poor and destitute to renovate State Houses, trotter the globe and create Offices for First Daughters is not empathy but punishment and impoverishment.
Furthermore, no Country ever prospered by overtaxing. Spurring economic activities by cleverly setting affordable and reasonable taxes is what grows an Economy.

Kenya Kwisha is burdening Folks with taxes which are all being kulwad left, right and centre.
They have even borrowed over 2T and can’t show even a single project they have done.

This is negligible and are all subsidised by taxes and debts

We either pay our debts or we default, either way we must pay for the previous government corruption and the 2b that was being stolen every day

I didn’t expect you to be so naive, gullible and suggestible as to believe JSKS’s lies that he is using all the money collected to pay loans and debts.
How come Uhuru was able to pay debts, carry out major capital projects, attract foreign investments and operate a reasonable Public Service without resulting to thieving tax hikes?
Name one project JSKS has accomplished…. with his taxes.

Uhuru ensured schools and hospitals run unlike Kenya Kwisha under whose watch 300K children couldn’t access Secondary Schools. Hospitals and Roads are gone back to Nyayo error even with these astronomical tax hikes.

We are now witnessing a President demanding State Houses and Lodges’ expansion and modernisation, four-folds increments in hospitality, employment of Prayer-warriors in State House as civil servants, Offices of First Daughters … and so on and so forth.

Worst of all he has created a hostile business and investment climate with harsh needless regulation and bastardisation of the Ksh.
He doesn’t want local manufacturing so that he can enable his associates to import.

🤣🤣🤣which debt did uhuru pay?

Kenya needs to prove that it can collect more taxes to get a reprieve from imf amd get some additional debt too to enable it restructure or manage current problematic debts....it does not all go towards debt repayment but it helps with mamaging our situation

It seems you are too emotional to coherently put your point across

Which of the two options is the lesser evil?
Previous years
High corruption, High borrowing, High development, Low taxation.

Current year.
High corruption, High borrowing, High taxation, zero development.
So you are comparing 10 years with just one year? Fyi where i come from a road project that had stalled for the last four years has been restarted, a hospital that had been neglected is now showing signs of new life, pesa ya wazee that had been stopped during uhuru's time is now going through, we are increasingly coming out of debt distress, not out of the woods yet, but we are getting there
